General

M1 Connecting Tones is a value added service, which allows you to replace the normal connecting tone with a connecting tone, a special effect connecting tone and/or a DIY connecting tone (i.e self-created connecting tone). You can choose your connecting tone to suit your personality and mood. Your callers will be entertained with your connecting tone before the call is answered. The service is available to both M1 postpaid and prepaid customers.

Yes. Monthly subscription is free and comes with a free default M1 connecting tone. The first connecting tone purchased is chargeable at $2.14 per calendar month. Subsequent connecting tones are chargeable at $1.61 per connecting tone per calendar month. Monthly recurring charges apply for all tones unless tone is deleted from "My Library". DIY Connecting Tones is chargeable at $2.14 per connecting tone per calendar month. Music Box is chargeable at $4.28 per Music Box per calendar month.

You can have up to 20 tones in your library at any one time. Each Music Box purchase is counted as 1 track.

If the calling number is set under “My Caller Specific", this track will be played. Followed by order of “Play During Specific Time", then “My Personal Tone".

No, you are not able to call 101* when you are overseas. However, you can still change your Connecting Tone through the Connecting Tone website.

Yes. This service is open to both M1 postpaid and prepaid customers.

  • As you are still subscribed to the service, your callers will hear a default track Connecting Tone which is the M1 Default tone. This default tone is free. You can add new tones at anytime.

  • Yes, your friends can hear your Connecting Tones when you are overseas.

You can remove your Connecting Tone via https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg > “My Library” and select the tone that you want to delete.

Charges

In the event that M1 is unable to deduct for monthly subscription and track charges, your Connecting Tones account and tones will be suspended for a maximum of 3 days from the and day of the month onwards. You are required to perform a top up within these 3 days and unsuspend the account via 101*. Once the unsuspension is done, your account is active again. Subscription charges for that month will be pro-rated for the remaining days of the month.

If deduction for subscription is still unsuccessful after 3 days, your Connecting Tone account will be deactivated permanently on the 4th day onwards. You will need to subscribe again to enjoy the service.

You will not be able to enjoy Connecting Tones service and be allowed to purchase any tracks.

No, all your tones in the library will be suspended. Once your Connecting Tones account is reactivated, all your tracks will be in your library for use again.

There are 2 ways to reactivate your account. You can either access via 101* and choose to reactivate your account yourself or wait for the system to do an auto detection of your M Card balance once a day for 3 days. Once it detects that you have sufficient balance, your account will be reactivated.

My Library

"My Library" shows the current tones, Music Boxes and DIY Tones that you have.

My Personal Track

"My Personal Tone" will be the track played to every caller, except those numbers found in “My Caller Specific" and during the time settings under “Play During Specific Time".

Play During Specific Time

"Play During Specific Time" are tracks that will be played according to your specified day and time duration whenever someone calls.

Yes, you can set different Connecting Tones for different specific days and time settings. Visit https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg to set up " Play During Specific Time ".

To set a tone for selected time, you have to purchase it first. After you purchased a tone, go to Settings > Play During Specific Time > Add Tone. Select the track that you would like to set. You will be prompted to key in the day and time which you want the track to be played. This feature is available via https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg .

My Caller Specific

" My Caller Specific " are tones that will be played to your specified calling numbers whenever they call.

Yes, you can set different Connecting Tones for different friends. Visit https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg set “My Caller Specific”.

To set a tone for specific caller, you have to purchase it first. After you purchased a tone, go to Settings > My Caller Specific > Add Caller. Select the tone that you would like to set. You will be prompted to key in your friend's telephone number (local fixed line or mobile number). This feature is available via https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg.

Gifting Tones

You will be notified with an SMS that your friend is not a Connecting Tone subscriber and you will not be charged for the gift.

There is no limitation on the number of gifts you can send.

You will be charged for the cost of the track for the first 30 days.

You can select your desired gifting tone via https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg and select a category to browse tones, search for a specific tone or search by artiste.

  • Click ‘Buy’ button next to desired tone and check ‘Gift to someone’ or

  • Visit My Library after purchasing a tone, click ‘Edit’ button next to desired tone and select ‘Gift to someone’.

Music Box

Each Music box consists of 3 recommended Connecting Tones. When you set a Music Box as your personal tone, tones will be played randomly for each call to you.

Each Music Box of 3 tracks is chargeable at $4.28 per month.

DIY Tone

DIY tone is a tone that you can create yourself and set to play as your Connecting Tone. You can create your own track by singing a song or make a funny script by calling 101* or upload a song file via https://connectingtones.m1.com.sg. Terms and conditions apply.

Exclusion List

Subscriber can add numbers under this list that can be accessed via WEB and callers who are under this list will hear the M1 default tone whenever they call the subscriber.

They will hear the M1 default track whenever they call you.

Yes, the exclusion list will work when you are roaming overseas.

No, there is no limit.


    Specific Terms and Conditions for M1 Connecting Tones Service

  1. These specific terms and conditions shall apply to your access and use of the M1 Connecting Tones Service ("Service"). By ordering for or accessing/using the Service, you shall be deemed to have read and agreed to these terms and conditions, including all terms and conditions incorporated by reference herein.
  2. The Service is open to eligible M1 Postpaid and M1 Prepaid mobile subscribers/customers. M1 Limited ("M1") reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to decline acceptance of your order or application for the Service for any reason or no reason.
  3. Customers who subscribe to the Service will each receive a default M1 connecting tone for free. The first connecting tone purchase shall be chargeable at S$2.14 (inclusive of 7% GST) per calendar month. Subsequent connecting tone purchases shall be chargeable at S$1.61 (inclusive of 7% GST) per connecting tone per calendar month. The first charge for each connecting tone will apply on a pro-rated basis depending on when the purchase is made. A monthly recurring charge for each connecting tone occurs on the 1st of every subsequent calendar month if you do not delete the connecting tone(s) from "My Library" of your account. Other than as specifically stated above, the applicable monthly recurring charges are charged for the full month (on a calendar month to calendar month basis), and are non-refundable and will not be pro-rated in any circumstances. For the avoidance of doubt, customers will be charged for the full calendar month, if the Service is terminated or if the connecting tone(s) is deleted by the customer after the start of the calendar month.
  4. For the avoidance of doubt, customers who signed up for the Service before 1 January 2013 will be subject to subscription and other charges in accordance with the then applicable rates, unless otherwise informed by M1.
  5. For M Card customers, connecting tone charges will first be deducted from the Super IDD balance (if applicable), then the Main Balance. In the event that any deduction for connecting tone charges is unsuccessful for any month due to insufficient card balance, the customer's M1 Connecting Tones account will be suspended for a maximum of 3 days, at M1's sole discretion. Customers will need to perform a top up and request for the suspension of the account to be lifted via 101* within 3 days of the suspension, failing which M1 reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to delete the customer's connecting tone(s) in "My Library" for which deduction had been unsuccessful and to switch the customer's connecting tone to the default M1 connecting tone at M1's sole and absolute discretion. In such event, customers will need to repurchase any deleted tones which they wish to retain after they have performed a top up / reload.
  6. Connecting Tone as Gift: For "Connecting Tone as Gift", the sender of the connecting tone(s) will be charged for the purchased connecting tone(s) for the first month. The recipient will be charged for subsequent month(s)’ usage/charges in accordance with the terms and conditions for the Service. The recipient must be a subscriber of the Service to receive and access the connecting tone(s) sent by the sender.
  7. DIY Connecting Tone Service
    (a) Customers who subscribe to the Service have the option to use the DIY Connecting Tone Service which is offered as part of the Service, subject to the terms and conditions herein. The same connecting tone charges as stated in Clause 3 above apply.
    (b) The DIY Connecting Tone Service is for personal use only. The copying and sending of DIY Connecting Tones is strictly not allowed. Customer shall be fully and solely responsible for all contents uploaded under and/or used with the DIY Connecting Tone Service.
    (c) Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, when using the DIY Connecting Tone Service, you shall:

    (i) only submit content(s) which has been created by you;

    (ii) not submit any content which infringes or which may infringe any third party intellectual property rights;

    (iii) ensure that the content(s) does not contain or suggest material that is defamatory, pornographic, racist, indecent, coarse, vulgar, obscene, threatening, abusive, malicious, profaning, derogatory, seditious, or otherwise illegal, unlawful or improper, or is offensive on any grounds;

    (iv) ensure that the content(s) is free from viruses or any other adverse or harmful programming processes or routines; and

    (v) ensure that the content(s) complies with the Voluntary Code for Self-regulation of Mobile Content in Singapore as jointly developed by M1, SingTel Mobile and StarHub Mobile and stated on our website at www.m1.com.sg.

    (d) Without prejudice to M1’s other rights and remedies, M1 reserves the right in its sole discretion to remove any DIY Connecting Tone(s) which does not comply with these terms and conditions, without any liability to you whatsoever.
  8. M1 reserves the right at any time to add, remove, vary or replace any connecting tone and/or to update, change or otherwise modify any aspect or feature of the Service at its sole discretion without assigning any reasons whatsoever, with or without notice to the customer.
  9. M1 reserves the right to amend, modify or revise any rules, rates, fees, charges, any of the terms and conditions for the Service and/or other terms and conditions applicable to you, and/or withdraw, suspend or change the Service or any part thereof at any time and from time to time by notice to the customer in such manner as M1 deems appropriate, which may include publication of such amended rules, rates, fees, charges, terms and conditions and/or other changes on www.m1.com.sg. Customers are encouraged to check back periodically to ensure that they are aware of any such amendments and/or changes. The customer’s continued use of the Service will constitute his acceptance of such changes, modifications and amendments.
  10. You agree that (i) the Service is provided for your personal use on a non-exclusive and non-transferable basis only, and may not be re-sold or otherwise commercialised, and (ii) you shall not copy, distribute, decompile, modify, reverse engineer, reverse compile or otherwise disassemble any of the connecting tones and/or any aspect or part of the Service; (iii) the connecting tones may be subject to copyright and/or other proprietary rights of third parties, and you agree not to challenge and/or infringe any such rights.
  11. You shall be fully and solely responsible for all use under your account, including but not limited to bearing any and all payment obligations and charges arising from your account, whether by you or any other person under any login name and/or password. You shall be solely responsible for the security of your account information, including without limitation passwords and/or encryption keys, in relation to the Service and for protecting the confidentiality of the same.
  12. M1 shall not be responsible for any interruption to your download and/or purchases, or to your use of the Service, or any loss or damage, arising from any device/software compatibility or connectivity issues, or any other reason or cause as the case may be.
  13. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind whatsoever, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of title or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. You accept that you order and subscribe to and access and/or use the Service at your own risk.
  14. M1 is not responsible for and does not guarantee the functionality, availability or continuity of the Service at any time. M1 also does not guarantee (a) that the Service will be accessible, secure, reliable, or be without disruption, interruption, errors, virus or other harmful elements, or (b) that the results, information, contents or materials derived from the use of the Service are accurate, reliable or suitable for its users, or (c) that any identified defect will be corrected.
  15. The customer acknowledges and agrees that (a) M1 may rely on third party service providers in providing the Service to the customer, including but not limited to any hardware, software and user documentation or other material from such third parties (“Third Party Inputs”); and (b) access and use of the Service may require customer to access and use third party platforms, portals, applications, software, programs and/or other systems, which may be provided and/or operated by third party service providers (“Third Party Platforms”); and accordingly, M1 shall not be liable for any claims, damages, expenses or losses arising from or in connection with the use, inability to use, defect or failure of any of the Third Party Inputs or Third Party Platforms or with respect to other aspects of the Service.
  16. To the fullest extent allowed by applicable laws, M1 shall not be liable or responsible for any costs, damage or loss (whether direct or indirect) suffered or incurred by any customer which may arise (whether in contract, tort, including negligence under statute or otherwise) by reason of or in connection with the provision of the Service, or the access or use of the Service by the customer, or under the customer’s account, howsoever caused. Without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, to the fullest extent allowed by applicable laws, in no event shall M1 be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, economic or consequential damages, losses, costs or expenses; or loss of revenue, profit, business opportunities, earnings or goodwill (whether direct or indirect) (collectively, "Losses") whether based on warranty, contract, tort including negligence, strict liability under statute or otherwise, and whether or not M1 is advised of the possibility of such Losses suffered or incurred by you by reason of or in connection with the access or use of the Service.
  17. You shall and agree to fully indemnify, defend and hold harmless M1 and all of its corporate parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and all employees, officers and directors of the foregoing, against any and all fines, penalties, liabilities, claims, demands, losses, damages and costs and expenses (including legal costs and expenses) suffered or incurred by and/or made against M1 and/or any of its corporate parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and/or any of the employees, officers and/or directors of the foregoing, arising from or in connection with the access or use of the Service by you, or under your account, to the fullest extent allowed by applicable laws.
  18. You acknowledge and agree that, in the event that your use of the Service is suspected of any activities which may be improper, offensive, indecent, objectionable, unlawful or illegal, we may suspend and/or terminate the Service and/or inform the relevant authorities and/or act in conformity with the relevant authorities' directions or guidelines, without prior notice to you.
  19. No delay or failure by M1 to take any action or to enforce or exercise any of its rights under these terms and conditions or other terms and conditions applicable to you will operate as a waiver of such rights by M1, nor will such failure or delay in any way prejudice or affect M1's rights at any time thereafter to act strictly in accordance with our rights under these terms and conditions and/or other terms and conditions applicable to you.
  20. If any of these terms and conditions or other terms and conditions applicable to you is held to be unenforceable, invalid or illegal for any reason, that clause (or part thereof) shall be severed from such terms and conditions, save and except that the remaining part(s) of that clause and other clauses shall remain in full force and effect.
  21. The use of the Service is subject to (a) M1 Limited’s General Terms and Conditions and other applicable specific terms and conditions for the provision of the Service from time to time published at www.m1.com.sg, which provisions are deemed incorporated herein by reference and shall apply; and (b) such other terms and conditions as may be agreed or accepted by you. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency, such conflict or inconsistency shall be resolved in the manner most favourable to M1, as determined by M1 at its sole and absolute discretion, to the fullest extent permissible under applicable laws.
